WHAT TO EXPECT

Two Great Museums in Two Hours

The Museum of the African Diaspora (MOAD) and the Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM) are two excellent museums in San Francisco that explore identity, culture, and history from distinct perspectives that intersect in meaningful ways.

MOAD celebrates Black cultures and art forms that developed through the African diaspora. Through exhibits, programs, and events, it aims to foster multicultural understanding and inclusivity.

Meanwhile, the CJM showcases Jewish stories, values, and contributions to world culture, both historical and contemporary. It provokes insight and perspective through art, artifacts, and ideas.

Despite different focuses, the two museums are connected by themes:

  • Exploring identity, ancestry, and experiences of diaspora.

  • Preserving and reinvigorating cultural traditions in the face of globalization.

  • Using art and education to promote diversity, bridge differences, and empower minority groups.

  • Acting as dynamic community hubs for culture, dialogue, and remembrance.

OUTCOMES
